A few notable achievements by Dr. Raheman in last ten years are : development of solar energy operated agricultural machinery such as paddy thresher, reaper and weeder; development of combination tillage implements for maximum tractor power utilization and reduction in fuel and labour requirements for land preparation; use of rubber tracks for improving tractive ability of power tiller to make it a versatile power source for small land holdings; use of robotic arms for transplanting vegetable seedlings to improve mechanization in planting of vegetable seedlings; development of sensors for sensing seed flow and detection of choking in boots of seed drill to improve seeding efficiency; development of solar energy operated agricultural machinery; production and utilisation of biodiesel from mixtures of non-edible oils; generation of green electricity as well as production of biogas from Jatropha seed cake to reduce dependency on fossil fuels. These achievements are the outcome of successful handling of many research projects sponsored by national funding agencies such as DST, CSIR, ICAR, PCRA and MHRD, where he was the sole investigator. His ongoing research activities are use of robotic arms in transplanting of vegetable seedlings and development of solar energy operated machinery for paddy crop.Â
